Trail Running Shoes Worth Buying
Trail running is fun, but a little dangerous. You'll need a shoe that offers more traction, stability, and protection. Here are two models that you can go with.
Teva X1 Evolution - If you are a competitive runner who likes to do trail races, this is a good option. It carries less with compared to other shoes, at ten ounces in men's size nine and 8 ounces in women's size 7. It also has a stable platform with good traction which does quite well on technical trails. However, it does best on smoother trails. A gusset which covers the lower half of the lace column offers additional protection from rocks and other debris that might otherwise get into the shoe. Although the shoe has a well cushioned heel, the forefoot is quite thin. But when you are a competitive racer, forefoot cushion is not a big concern as you need a faster, rather than cushioned toe off.
Under Armour Mirage - Use this shoe if you are the type of runner who likes to run on a combination of road and off road routes. It has a number of features that most trails shoes don't - a gusseted tongue for keeping out debris and providing more midfoot support, a toe bumper to prevent you from stubbing your toes on rocks and cracks, a rock plate to protect the bottom of your feet from sharp jacket rockets, and multiple direction lugs for good traction. The shoe's upper is breathable and drains well. It has a good stable arch, yet is flexible in the forefoot. It's best for runners with medium arches and who do moderate to slightly difficult trails.
